After battling a serious illness, Sheinelle Jones’ beloved husband tragically passed away. The news comes months after Jones’ last appearance on “Today.”
Sheinelle Jones, beloved co-host of NBC’s “Today,” is facing a heartbreaking personal loss following the death of her husband of 17 years, Uche Ojeh, at the age of 45. Ojeh passed away after a brave battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The emotional announcement was made on the May 23 broadcast of “Today,” where Savannah Guthrie expressed the team’s grief and love for Ojeh, calling him “an incredible person” and offering heartfelt condolences to Jones and their three children.
The couple’s love story began at Northwestern University in the late 1990s, where a young Jones, then a freshman, was asked to give a high-school senior a tour of the campus. That senior was Ojeh.
Their connection grew, and after eight years together, Ojeh proposed to Jones at the same university where their journey began.
In January, Jones posted a heartfelt statement on Instagram announcing she would be taking some time off to attend to a “family health matter.” She also expressed gratitude to those who have reached out to her, including her “Today” family.
The post came after her last appearance on “Today” on December 18, 2024. Since then, Sheinelle Jones has only been featured in pre-recorded episodes. More details on the story will follow shortly.
